Am Hof Emschermündung, zwischen den Ufern von Rhein, Emscher und Rotbach, entsteht meine Kunst, die tief mit der Natur verwurzelt ist. Hier, wo die Flüsse ihre Geschichten flüstern und ihre Gegensätze verbinden, wo die Natur ihre schönsten Farben hervorbringt, befindet sich mein Atelier – ein Ort der Inspiration und des Schaffens.
Meine Kunst
Durch die großen Atelierfenster fällt der Blick in den sevengardens Färbergarten, ein lebendiges Kaleidoskop aus Farben, Formen und Düften – wo Himmel und Erde sich berühren. Hier gieße ich die Pflanzen, atme den Rhythmus der Natur und lausche dem Fluss – dem äußeren und dem inneren.
Dieser Dialog mit der Natur ist mehr als nur Inspiration; er ist ein Ritual, das mich zu mir selbst und von dort zum Großen Ganzen führt. Eine Blüte wird zur Aquarellfarbe. Ich schöpfe Erde vom Flussufer. Licht fällt auf das Papier, ein Bild entsteht. Es ist ein ewiger Kreislauf, in dem Wasser, Pflanze, Erde und Mensch in ein künstlerisches Gleichgewicht treten.
Jedes meiner Werke ist Ausdruck dieses Gleichgewichts. Sie zeigen das Geheimnisvolle des Gartens, die Bewegung der Flüsse, die Kraft der Erde und das Ursprüngliche in mir. Sie sind eine Einladung, die Verbindung zur Natur zu erfahren – in ihrer Zartheit und zugleich in ihrer unendlichen Energie. In ihnen beheimatet ist ein Lichtvolles, Schwebendes, Fließendes, ein miteinander in Beziehung Treten von sich gegenseitig ausgleichenden und haltenden Kräften.
Meine Farben – The Dyers‘ Child
Um meiner Kunst technisch gerecht zu werden, habe ich ein weltweit einzigartiges Verfahren entwickelt. Meine Farben – The Dyers‘ Child Inks – stelle ich aus verflüssigten Pigmenten her, die ich aus natürlichen Quellen gewinne. Diese Farben sind weit mehr als bloßes Material: Sie lösen das Festgewordene und Formgebundene auf und führen es in einen Zustand des Fließens zurück. Dabei offenbaren und intensivieren sie die im Pflanzenmaterial ruhende Kraft, die ihren Ursprung in Licht und Kristall hat.
My art, which is deeply rooted in nature, is created at Hof Emschermuendung, between the banks of the Rhine, Emscher and Rotbach rivers. Here, where the rivers whisper their stories and connect their opposites, where nature brings out its most beautiful colors, is my studio – a place of inspiration and creation.
My art
Through the large studio windows, the view falls into the sevengardens dyer’s garden, a living kaleidoscope of colors, shapes and scents – where heaven and earth meet. Here I water the plants, breathe in the rhythm of nature and listen to the flow – both external and internal.
This dialog with nature is more than just inspiration; it is a ritual that leads me to myself and from there to the big picture. A blossom becomes a watercolor. I draw soil from the riverbank. Light falls on the paper and a picture is created. It is an eternal cycle in which water, plants, earth and woman enter into an artistic balance.
Each of my works is an expression of this balance. They show the mysteriousness of the garden, the movement of the rivers, the power of the earth and the origin in me. They are an invitation to experience the connection to nature – in its delicacy and at the same time in its infinite energy. Something light-filled, floating, flowing lives in them, a relationship between mutually balancing and sustaining forces.
My colors – The Dyers‘ Child
In order to do justice to my art technically, I have developed my own unique process. My colors – The Dyers‘ Child Inks – are created from liquefied pigments that I extract myself from natural sources. These colors are far more than mere material: they dissolve what has become solid and form-bound and return it to a state of flow. In doing so, they reveal and intensify the power dormant in the plant material, which has its origin in light and crystal.

Ihre Kindheit im ländlichen Hessen, die Erfahrungen in Großstädten wie Berlin und ihre prägenden Aufenthalte in Taos (New Mexico, USA) inspirierten sie zu einer künstlerischen Reise, die Kunst, Identität und die tiefere Verbindung des Menschen mit der Natur reflektiert.
Nach ihrem Studium der Kunsterziehung und Kunsttherapie führte ihr Weg nach Berlin und später an die Universität der Künste in London, wo sie ihren Master of Arts absolvierte. Ihre Videoperformances und interaktiven Installationen thematisierten die krisenhafte Erfahrung von Identität in einer zunehmend virtualisierten Welt und wurden international ausgestellt. Doch parallel wuchs in ihr das Bedürfnis nach einer tieferen, spirituellen Verbindung – einer Rückkehr zu den Wurzeln des Seins.
In ihrer Suche nach einem Gegenpol zur Virtualisierung fand sie Inspiration in der Natur. Seit 2015 widmet sich Färberkind der Herstellung von Pflanzenfarben, die sie anbaut, sammelt, extrahiert und transformiert. Die aus der Natur gewonnenen Farben dienen nicht nur als künstlerisches Material, sondern auch als Medium, um die Verbindung des Menschen mit dem Zyklus von Werden und Vergehen zu erforschen. Dieser Prozess ist mehr als nur Kunsthandwerk; er ist eine heilsame Praxis, die das Bewusstsein für die Wechselwirkungen zwischen Mensch, Natur und Kosmos vertieft.
Jessica Färberkind verbindet in ihrer Arbeit traditionelle Handwerkskunst mit modernster Innovation und eröffnet damit neue Horizonte. Als Alchemistin der Farben entwickelt sie technisch brillante Pflanzenfarben in einem eigens geschaffenen Verfahren, bei dem traditionell hergestellte Lackpigmente mithilfe eines „Refluids“ vollständig verflüssigt werden. So entstehen hochwertige, vielseitig einsetzbare Farben, die das Potenzial haben, alte Techniken in die Zukunft zu tragen: The Dyers’ Child Inks. Dieses Zusammenspiel von Tradition und Fortschritt verleiht ihren Arbeiten eine zeitlose und zugleich visionäre Qualität.
Nach Stationen in Süddeutschland, wo sie als Kunstpädagogin tätig war, fand Färberkind im Projekt sevengardens eine neue Heimat. Am Hof Emschermündung schafft sie Werke, die nicht nur die Essenz von Natur und Spiritualität erfahrbar machen, sondern auch gesellschaftlich relevante Fragestellungen aufgreifen.
Färberkinds Arbeiten laden dazu ein, über die ontologische Verflechtung von Mensch und Natur nachzudenken. In ihren eigenen Worten:

Jessica Färberkind’s (*1979) artistic career is characterized by a field of tension between closeness to nature and technological virtualization, between the timeless rhythms of becoming and passing and the fleeting dynamics of a digital world. Her childhood in rural Hesse, her experiences in big cities such as Berlin and her formative stays in Taos (New Mexico, USA) inspired her to embark on an artistic journey that reflects art, identity and the deeper connection between humans and nature.
After studying art education and art therapy, her path led her to Berlin and later to the University of the Arts in London, where she completed her Master of Arts. Her video performances and interactive installations addressed the crisis-ridden experience of identity in an increasingly virtualized world and were exhibited internationally. At the same time, however, she felt a growing need for a deeper, spiritual connection – a return to the roots of being.
In her search for an antithesis to virtualization, she found inspiration in nature. Since 2015, Färberkind has dedicated herself to the production of plant dyes, which she grows, collects, extracts and transforms. The colors obtained from nature serve not only as artistic material, but also as a medium to explore the human connection with the cycle of becoming and passing away. This process is more than just craftsmanship; it is a healing practice that deepens awareness of the interactions between humans, nature and the cosmos.
Jessica Färberkind combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge innovation in her work, opening up new horizons. As an alchemist of colors, she develops technically brilliant plant colors in a specially created process in which traditionally produced lake pigments are completely liquefied with the help of a “refluid”. This results in high-quality, versatile paints that have the potential to carry old techniques into the future: The Dyers‘ Child Inks. This interplay of tradition and progress lends her work a timeless yet visionary quality.
After working as an art teacher in southern Germany, Färberkind found a new home in the sevengardens network. At Hof Emschermündung, she creates pieces of art that not only make the essence of nature and spirituality tangible, but also address socially relevant issues.
